The heart of the Enterprise is in the newsroom. In 1886 the Enterprise began life as the Falmouth Local, with a small staff and a single steam press on main street. Renamed the Enterprise in March 1895 the paper grew to include four editions covering the communities of Falmouth, Bourne, Sandwich and Mashpee.
The week begins for the editorial team with a Monday morning meeting where reporters and editors discuss story ideas for the coming edition. From here the reporters go out to gather the news under the direction of the editors. Each paper has its own reporters and editors who devote their efforts to the communities they report on.
When the first edition of the Enterprise came off the press in 1895 the news cycle for a weekly paper centered around the publication day. In the digital world the news is reported daily and published digitally culminating at 4 AM on Fridays when the papers, the weeks work, arrive at the Depot Ave offices in Falmouth ready for delivery.
Reporter and editors alike seek truth keeping with the mission of all journalists to report accurate, fair and timely news. For over 130 years the Enterprise has been chronicling a community and the newsroom is key to that mission.
