Greetings, OnCape Magazine readers. I’m Alex Kryska, the new general manager of the Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority, and I am thrilled to be part of this wonderful community.
I received a warm welcome from my new Upper Cape friends and neighbors when I arrived from San Francisco earlier this year. It’s clear to me that this is a very special place, and I am honored to be the next steward of one of its iconic institutions — the Steamship Authority.
The Steamship Authority has been a major economic driver of the region’s economy for more than 65 years. A third of our workforce lives in Falmouth, and we actively work with local companies and nonprofits on a variety of projects and sponsorships. It’s now my responsibility to ensure that the Authority is well-positioned to serve the evolving travel needs of islanders and visitors—and to be a good neighbor to our mainland port communities.
In the coming months, I will continue to be present in all our port communities to hear concerns and suggestions from the traveling public and local residents. I value thoughtful, considerate input from those in our communities who have an interest in Steamship Authority operations, so please reach out to me.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
