Quissett Yacht Club hosted the 68th annual Round the Bay race on September 12. J/105’s Hardtack and Dark ‘n Stormy sail just after their start.
Tim Fallon (orange sail) and Jim Kirk (Yellow sail) lead the fleet out of South Cove on the final leg of the second race of the Hog Islanders’ fall season. Jim won the race.
An aggressive wind blew into the mouth of West Falmouth harbor, blessing sailors and photographer with a rare opportunity to get cross-tacking photos this satisfying. The Kirk-O’Connor axis upheld its reputation for superlative sailing and then treated the committee and onlookers to a surprise ending to boot! One more race day will complete the 51st year of the Hog Island beetle cat series, begun so long ago by Sloat Hodgson. Miracles abound!
