There are no secrets behind the pinked-out front doors of Pink Door Catering & Market. Inside the storefront at 800 Falmouth Road in Mashpee, the kitchen is open for customers to observe. Every cook in the kitchen moves with the practiced precision and awareness of a team with obvious chemistry, earned over years of hard work. Oven doors swing open to reveal the source of one of several scents mixing in the air, soups and stocks simmer on the stovetops, emitting warm vapor that beckons like a cartoon apple pie, left untended on the edge of an open windowsill.
When the pink doors open and customers step over the threshold—whether they’ve come looking for a comforting takeaway meal or they’ve come hoping to book Pink Door as the caterer of their special event—owner and chef Matt Lombardo sits at his desk in the corner of the shop, prepared to welcome all who enter as family.
Lombardo’s mother, Cindy, was the first to suggest that Lombardo take over Chef Roland’s Catering company, which he did in 2020 when he purchased the business from Chef Roland Lamirande. Lombardo worked with Lamirande and continued to operate the business as Chef Roland’s Catering until rebranding in 2023, when Pink Door Catering & Market officially opened.
The pink doors honor the influence of Cindy, who died in 2018, when Lombardo was 28, of breast cancer. The family’s East Falmouth home had a pink front door, which Lombardo said meant once a welcome was issued to a visitor, an invitation to come back was never necessary.
In its third year open after rebranding from Chef Roland’s to Pink Door, the business has quickly become one of the most locally recommended spots to find a top-notch lobster roll. Pink Door’s Mashpee Lobster Rolls feature generous hunks of lobster meat, heaped on top of a freshly baked roll, which is constructed to handle the job. Importantly, the sandwich contains a ratio of mayonnaise to meat that is just right, alongside crispy romaine and a little celery for a small crunch. Soups, deli sandwiches, wraps, salads and chef-inspired “take and bake” dinners such as chicken marsala, beef bourguignon, lasagna bolognese and eggplant parmesan can also be purchased at the counter.
Customers considering catering are encouraged to get creative with their menu ideas. Lombardo said he might ask a couple planning a wedding about their date night meals and favorite ingredients to customize a menu to reflect the couple. Passed Hors D’oeuvre options range from whipped beet hummus tacos with watermelon radish to tandoori chicken satay and mini beef wellingtons. Catering plans are customizable to meet the expectations of an elevated event as well as a wholesome backyard BBQ.
Feeding the locals in the winter is just as important as feeding the masses in the summer to Lombardo. During the February Blizzard of 2026, Lombardo and his team of employees partnered with World Central Kitchen to prepare 1,200 meals, which the organization delivered to Cape Codders who had lost power, some for as long as a week.
Lombardo said this summer season is dedicated to the memory of Chef Roland, who also spent time volunteering for World Central Kitchen for a month after hurricane following Hurricane Ian in Florida in 2022.
