Owner Stephen DeMatos is a lifelong Cape resident who got his start working alongside his father, learning how to care for perennials, shrubs, and ornamental trees from a young age. That early foundation shaped a hands-on understanding of the Cape’s landscape and how changing weather patterns, soil conditions, and coastal exposure all play a role in how a property evolves over time.
Today, the company brings that experience into every project, helping clients design outdoor spaces that not only look right but hold up year after year. DeMatos’s focus on dependable, high-quality work leads to long-term results.
In 2024, Big Guy Landscape built and moved into its own building in Mashpee. The move has allowed Stephen and his team to expand their service area, operations, and the space to accommodate their growing team. This Best of the Upper Cape award-winning team has added multiple sales and administrative support positions. Out on the front lines, Big Guy dispatches multiple mowing and maintenance crews, a construction division, and, new to 2026, an extended care/fine gardening team for properties that require a more detailed touch.
It’s a model built on experience, consistency, and a deep understanding of the Cape, one that continues to grow alongside the properties and people it serves.
