Before May 2022, adult dancers on Cape Cod had limited options. Julia Sykes, a Bourne-raised former professional, recognized this gap when she returned to start a family. Sensing others felt the same, Julia took matters into her own hands and founded Studio 721.
Today, Studio 721 offers a full range of classes, including ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop, as well as Pilates, yoga, and barre. The studio is intentionally structured for all levels. Beginners have a place to start while also offering Intermediate and Advanced training for those returning to a lifelong passion.
Beyond the daily schedule, the Annual 721 Showcase at the Tilden Arts Center gives adult dancers a rare opportunity. They can perform in a full-scale production, often for the first time. The event blends a wide range of styles and experience levels into one night on stage.
The space itself carries a deep legacy. Formerly her late mother’s photography studio, the name Studio 721 honors her mother’s birthday, July 21st. Her mother always championed Julia’s creativity, and the studio now serves as a way for that support to live on through a new generation of artists. That connection remains a cornerstone of the business, including an annual fundraiser supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
At Studio 721, movement is more than just exercise. It’s a visceral outlet for stress, a builder of confidence, and a welcoming community where people can show up, push past hesitation, and finally feel at home.
